Quit smoking Plan
How to quit smoking
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life! Your first day of being smoke free is tricky, but you’ll quickly realise you’ve made the right decision.
Understanding the facts
Just 20 minutes into your quit attempt your heart rate and blood pressure will return to normal. Within 8 hours the nicotine and carbon monoxide level in your blood will reduce by half and oxygen levels will return to normal.
You’re likely to encounter symptoms over the course of the first day that may continue for a few weeks. You may find it helpful to breath deeply through your nose and out through your mouth if you feel agitated, while headaches caused by withdrawal may be soothed with some herbal tea, fruit juice or water.
